Building Permits
A building permit is required for almost all changes, repairs, alterations or additions to a structure. The purpose of the permits is to ensure that work performed meets the mandatory State Building Code, as verified by the City's Building Official.
To apply for a permit, an application must be completed and submitted to St. Michael City Hall, 11800 Town Center Drive NE. Permits can also be submitted via email to inspections@stmichaelmn.gov with credit card accepted over the phone. Unless noted, permit fees are based on the valuation of the work being done. Persons who may do their own work are required to assign a value to the project.
