Rules for Peddlers, Solicitors, and Professional Fundraisers

Every peddler, solicitor, and professional fundraiser must be either licensed or registered to visit residents homes within the City of St. Michael. Each person is required to carry the approved license/registration with them at all times. Residents can ask to see proof of license/registration, which must be provided immediately.
 
Hours allowed for door-to-door sales/fundraising are:
  • Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  • SUNDAYS ARE NOT ALLOWED FOR THIS TYPE OF SALES

If you have a peddler, solicitor, or professional fundraiser visit your home outside of the allowed hours or without a license, OR they fail to follow NO SOLICITING signage, please call the Wright County Sherriff's Office non-emergency line to report it at 763-682-1162.
 
 

How to Apply for a Peddler's License, Solicitor or Professional Fundraiser Registration

To obtain a Peddler license to sell or register as a Solicitor/Professional Fundraiser within the city limits of St. Michael, each applicant must submit the following information to via the online permit at the time of application:
  • Peddler/Solicitor Application Online Form.
  • Photo Identification with application.  Examples are a driver’s license, state issued identification card, school issued identification card.
  • Fee:  $100.00 annually (peddler only). 
  • Licenses/registrations are valid for one calendar year.
Upon receipt of the completed application and payment of the license fee, the City Clerk or designee shall determine if the application is complete and order any background checks to verify the information provided within the application.  A license or registration shall be issued within ten (10) business days of receipt of a complete application unless grounds exist for denial. Failure to submit all of the required documentation will delay the processing of the license.
