Spring Reminders & Resources
When spring arrives there is cleanup to be done. St. Michael residents have access to resources to assist in disposing of a variety of household and yard debris.
Compost/Brush Site | 3150 Lander Ave. NE
• Residents of St. Michael have 24-hour access with a card.
• Access card available in-person at City Hall | 11800 Town Center Drive NE.
• Access Card online request form.
Mail completed form to City Hall or email to cityhall@stmichaelmn.gov.
Used Oil Drop Off | 3150 Lander Ave. NE
• No charge to dispose of used oil.
• No gasoline or solvents are accepted.
• Cost for disposal of oil filters is 50 cents per filter and $1 per gallon of antifreeze.
• No access card is needed.
Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
Wright County Compost & Recycling | 505 County Road 37, Buffalo
• Household products like paint, cleaners, fertilizers, and pesticides are accepted for disposal.
• Must reserve a drop-off time online.
Wright County Compost & Recycling Important Update!
The Wright County Compost & Recycling Facility will be undergoing a facelift! Therefore, the current facility at 505 Co Rd 37 NE WILL BE CLOSED starting April 18, 2025, due to construction activity on site. Limited operations will resume April 29, 2025, at a temporary location at 5538 85th St. NW, Maple Lake, until the new building can be occupied. During this transition and construction period, some services will not be available, which may change as space at the temporary location becomes available.
When operations resume at the temporary location on or around April 29, the following items will NOT BE ACCEPTED: tires, scrap metal, appliances, electronics, batteries, Styrofoam, TVs, and large size or quantities of cardboard.
Acceptable items will include household hazardous waste (paints, stains, and chemicals), curbside recycling, sharps, and yard waste. Large quantities of cardboard will NOT be accepted due to limited space for operations.

Burning Permits | Minnesota DNR
• All permits need to be obtained through the DNR.
• For permits or burning restriction information.
• When is a burning permit needed?
º When the fire is more than 3 feet high and 3 feet in diameter.
º When the ground is not completely covered by a minimum of 3 inches of snow.
º When the fire is not contained in either an approved burner or in a cooking or heating device such as charcoal grill of camp stove.
Sprinkling Restrictions | June 1 - September 30
• Sprinkling restrictions are put into effect to ensure adequate water supply for fire protection.
• Watering lawns is only allowed between the hours of 7 p.m. and 10 a.m.
• Even house numbers water on even days. Odd house numbers water on odd days.
• New sod and seed are exempt for 60 days ONLY if you notify the Water Department prior to installation | 763-497-3611.
The 2025 Annual Public Stormwater meeting will be held on June 10, 2025 at 7 p.m. in the St. Michael Council Chambers.
Organics Recycling | 11250 5th St. NE, Hanover
• St. Michael residents can dispose of organic waste during regular Hanover City Hall office hours.
